1750 HP Built by EMD for the NYH&NH ( New Haven ) in 1956, 1957, and 1960 - they had a third rail shoe that let them run into the New York city tunnels on electric

Amtrak first leased 5001, 5010, 5013, 5014, 5029. Amtrak got 12 (PC 5001, 5004, 5006, 5008-5010, 5013, 5014, 5016, 5021, 5025, 5029 as part of the Northeast Corridor sale. Seven were rebuilt ( 484-498, 491) and the rest were disposed of

The last of the Amtrak FL-9s were removed from regular service in 1998 by the Genesis P32-8
